Transition into Retirement Together

Welcome to Hively and “Transition into Retirement Together” Meetup group’s weekly newsletter! This is where you’ll find announcements on upcoming events and resources to navigate retirement and discover what’s next, together.

WHAT WE’RE LOVING

🗞 Why can’t we just relax more in retirement?
The first year in retirement is often the most difficult. But it also can be the most crucial, setting the stage for how you’ll fill the years ahead—both financially and psychologically. Stephen Kreider Yoder, 65, a longtime Wall Street Journal editor, joined his wife, Karen Kreider Yoder, 66, in retirement in September. The Yoders write about some of the issues they are dealing with in that first year, offering their different perspectives on what can be a confusing transition.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Tomorrow 10/31 at 1-2pm EST: Guest discussion with Dr. Carly Roman on “Why intergenerational connections matter” (virtual)
What are the benefits of intergenerational connection? What are resources and opportunities to engage with people outside of your life stage? Join us for an interactive discussion event with our guest host Dr. Carly Roman, PhD, from Archstone Foundation. Dr. Roman is a gerontologist who has focused her research on intergenerational connections and will be attending to share her expertise, recent research, and tangible opportunities in intergenerational programs. RSVP here.

Sunday 11/5 at 11:30am-12:30pm EST: Walk-with-a-Doc walking group around the Brookline Reservoir (in-person)
One of our wonderful members Donna, a physician, leads a walking group around the Brookline Reservoir. The walks will include a short health talk at the beginning. Join a group of us to attend together! RSVP here.
