WHAT WE’RE LOVING

🎙 From examining the dead to guiding the living, Tom Andrew embraces his 'third act'
Tom Andrew, a 67-year-old former forensic pathologist, is making a remarkable transition in the "third act" of his life, from a career studying the dead to becoming a Methodist deacon. He serves as a chaplain at a Scout camp in New Hampshire, drawing upon his own experience as a former Boy Scout. Tom's decision to embark on this new chapter is part of a broader trend where people are redefining their lives at age 50, 60, or later, rather than retiring. This inspiring story covered by WBUR explores the opportunities and challenges that come with late-life reinvention and how it can be a time of growth, transformation, and giving back.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Friday 11/10 at 1-2pm EST: Guest discussion with Professor Marisa Turesky on “How can our cities plan for a diverse aging population?” (virtual)
Aging-in-Place is a widely shared goal among older adults in the United States, but most cities and neighborhoods remain unprepared to meet the needs of an aging population. How can cities and neighborhoods can improve the safety and health of a diverse aging community? Why is your story important for improving equitable aging policies? Join us for an interactive discussion event with our guest host Dr. Marisa Turesky, a Visiting Professor in Real Estate Law and Urban Planning at UC Berkeley. She examines how identity, especially age, gender, race, and class, shape people’s urban spatial and service needs over the lifespan. RSVP here.
